Convo Café Socials

Image of diverse people huddling and smiling

The Convo Café SOCIALS are spaces where you can meet people of different ages, professions and cultural backgrounds, and help others combat feelings of social isolation, especially in the winter months. The socials are also opportunities for international students or anyone new to Fredericton to meet people in the community and find out what interesting things are happening in town.

Every second Saturday of the month from January to May the Convo Café SATURDAY SOCIAL meets from 2 to 4 in the afternoon at the Fredericton Public Library (in Chickadee Hall, the meeting room by the children’s section), located at 12 Carleton Street.

Every fourth Thursday of the month from January to March the Convo Café THURSDAY SOCIAL meets from 6 to 8 in the evening at the Stepping Stone Senior Centre, located at 15 Saunders Street.

The events last two hours and follow this format: In the first hour there will be a presentation or conversation on a given topic followed by questions and answers, and then a quick round of announcements of interesting events going on in town that month. There may be other variations for structured activities in that first hour as well. The second hour will consist of free time to chat with other participants, mingle, network, play some board games, or follow up on anything that was discussed earlier that you found interesting.

Both Socials are located in universally accessible locations for persons with reduced mobility.

The Saturday Social is family-friendly because parents can bring their kids to the children’s section of the Public Library while one parent can participate in the social.

The Thursday Social is open to everyone who wants to reach out to older adults of any cultural background or origin.

Please feel free to invite anyone who you think would like to meet new people in the community by engaging in conversation and mingling over hot drinks and snacks. The event is free and there is no registration required, just show up!
